Larani Kynis
Pers.Doc.Lar.Cpt.473
Captain Kynis is this administrator's choice for Fireflight command. Lt Artis, while having more experience, also has a record of instability in the past. (See:#Pers.Doc.Ced.Lt.623). Larani is perfect for our needs: an excellent pilot, with competent levels in all the social and diplomatic skills needed for dealing with the public. All records indicate a cool personality that is capable of handling almost any emergency.
Her position as a member of a Kargan noble family has raised questions of her loyalties. I believe that these concerns are unfounded, as her enlistment was forwarded by the Lady Arasaiu (a vocal advocate of Overwatch), not her ambitious father Lord Kynis. In fact, father and daughter seem to be estranged at the moment.
Larani, all in all, seems to be ideally suited for the task of command. Her motivations seem to be above petty vendettas and revenge, so she should be able to keep the others in line
- -Hav.Com.Rim 2-20
Family History
Larani's mother died under mysterious circumstances over 15 years ago. Her father is alive, and living at the Kynis family grounds in Kargol. The Kynis family is one of the ten great Kargan families, and is considered to be one of the highest ranking families in Karga. Larani is an only child.
Friends & Enemies
- Enemies
- Lord Falmak Kynis (Kargan male, 45, Larani's father)
- As a child Larani was spoiled rotten. Everything she had received - her first commission, her first command, even her first lover - were all provided by "daddy". She was the flower of Kargan nobility, thanks to dad. Soon she realized that she had no life at all, but was merely a puppet living out his wishes. Wishing for some personal freedom, she left his household, making her own way in the Empire.
- Two days later, Larani found herself penniless, stripped of rank and wings. She was assigned to the social corps, and faced spending the rest of her life as a servant.
- Friends
- Lady Arasai (Kargan female,39)
- After the incident with her father, Larani was assigned to "personal secretary" duties to Lord Kamas Arasai. Normally in Kargan society this means that she was given as a concubine (or other toy) for his pleasure. With Arasai this was not the case. He loved his wife dearly and Larani was passed to her as a personal assistant. Quickly the two grew close friends, and Lady Arasai introduced Larani to afriend of her husband's, Dar Koma. Dar then got Larani back her wings, and took her into his squadron.
- Larani loves the Lady Arasai like the mother she never knew and Arasai returns the feelings.
Romantic Life
Larani's last relationship of any seriousness was with Dar Koma. That affair ended with his getting shot down during the war. When he returned alive with an Ettaran wife, Larani and he became good friends.
Personality
Larani is all business. She is a quick-witted commander who places the good of the unit before her own safety or comfort.
Personal Equipment
1 Kargan dress uniform, 3 Kargan standard combat uniforms (1D6+1 physical, 1 pip energy defense), 3 sets of civilian clothing, high quality Kargan officer's sabre - accuracy: +1 / difficulty: Easy / damage: STR+2D (max. 4D+1); 480₢

Cedric Artis
Pers.Doc.Ced.Lt1.623
Cedric has served as a loyal and good soldier for seven years, longer than any other squadron member. He has been decorated by the Elaran throne, and surviving Kargan pilots that have faced him in battle call him a "worthy and admirable" opponent. In all, he is a perfect addition to the squadron, and possibly its most valuable member.
My only hesitation is that, in the past, he was "under observation" at an Elaran hospital after losing a fellow squadron member in an ambush (they were romantically involved). While he was released with a clean bill of health, I still wonder how deeply the loss affected him. I wish I could recommend Cedric as highly as other members of the squadron. But even with his personal problems, it was difficult to chose Larani over him for the commander's spot. But as a second, he should be invaluable.
- -Hav.Com.Rim 2-20
Family History
Cedric's father was killed in the Mekton war when Cedric was still a child. His mother still lives alone in Koriel. Cedric is an only child. He and his mother still get along with one another.
Friends & Enemies
Cedric has the usual group of "army buddies", but very few people he could call close friends. Since losing Maria, he has remained fairly closed and quiet, keeping to himself.
No enemies
Romantic Life
Cedric has had one great love affair, and one great tragedy. Two years ago, at the end of the Archipelago War, Cedric fell in love with another pilot in his squadron, Maria Armandi. The two started out as "friends" but despite their best efforts, they fell deeply in love.
One day, on patrol, they were ambushed and Maria was shot down, her mekton plunging toward the sea in flames. Cedric heared her screaming fo help as the machine went down, but he was unable to help, as the other mektons had him engaged in combat.
With Maria gone, Cedric was in a suicidal depression (and in the grip of horrible nightmares) for months, and was sent to a military hospital. Finally released, part of his soul seemed numb, as if it had died with her.
Personality
Cedric is friendly, if somewhat detatched and distant. He is afraid of becoming close to anyone, for fear of losing them.
Personal Equipment
3 standard Elaran combat uniform suits (1D6+1 physical, 1 pip energy defense); 2 sets of civilian clothing; EDF 9mm Automatic (accuracy +1, range: 5/25/50, shots: 12, max-rof: 4, damage: 3D+2), a photo of Maria, 240₢

Tammis Veric
Pers.Doc.Tam.Ens.998
There are those pilots who fly, and there are those who soar. Tammis is definately the latter. His skill in a mekton is truly inspiring to behold; his only problem is that he has a love of flying, not combat. His marksmanship scores were a fraction of his maneuver ratings (but still well above the norm). With this weakness more than made up for by Tharis (See: #Pers.Doc.Tha.Ens.733), Tammis' piloting skills are something that the rest of the team can learn from.
Little is known about hispersonal life and I have not had the opportunity to meet him in person. He seems to be the typical "fighter jock", more interested in speed and looking good for the girls than any military glory. He has given several surprisingly good TV interviews, and popular with the general public. At some point in the future, we might want to consider making him an Overwatch spokesman.
- -Hav.Com.Rim 2-20
Family History
Both of Tammis' parents are dead, or rather his mother is dead, and his father remains unknown. Tammis' mother was a captured Sharafin rebel who had been put to work in a detention camp. Tammis and his sister Tyna, were born in that camp. When he was 10, his mother was knifed to death, and he fled the camp with his little sister. The two were "adopted" by Harval Veric (an antique plane collector wo had known their mother), and he raised them like his own.
Friends & Enemies
- Friends
- Harval Veric (Kargan male, 47)
When Tammis first escaped from the detention camp, Harval was already waiting for the two outside the compound. The children were taken three miles to an old airstrip, and flown to safety with one of Harvals antique planes. It was this first flight from a life of slavery and misery that sparked Tammis' love of flying.
Harval, while keeping the children on as "shop hands", treated them with love and respect bordering on paternal. Tammis knows that his mother once had a life outside the camp, and he also knows that someone had snuck her food and clothing during the hard times. It may be that the merchant and his mother were very close, but Harval has told Tammis that the üast can be dangerous, so Tammis simply accepts him as "Uncle".
- Enemies
Tammis walks a fine line. If the Kargan gigh command ever found out that his mother was a rebel, and that he had escaped from the camps, his career (and life) might well be over.
Romantic Life
Tammis has never settled down, or ever become attached to a single person for a long period of time. He wants to have fun and party, and is interested in just about any pretty girl.
Personality
Tammis is a speed and adrenaline junkie. The faster it goes, and the more dangerous it is, the more he likes it. Just about the only thing that keeps him from doing things too wildly is a promise he made to his mother that he would always look out for his little sister.
Personal Equipment
1 Kargan dress uniform; 3 sets of Kargan standard combat uniforms (1D6+1 physical, 1 pip energy defense); 5 sets of stylish civilian clothing; Kargan gyrojet pistol (accuracy -1D, range 10/30/100m, shots: 5, max-rof: 1, damage* 5D6+1 (* - only 3D at short range)); 80₢

Eiran Alestain
Pers.Doc.Eir.Ens.475
I must admit, when I saw this young man's application cross my desk, Ithought it was a joke. By most laws he won't be a legal adult for another year, and the only practical experience that he has is flying practice runs in the mektons on his family's fan carrier. To my surprise, he was granted an interview, and passed with AA status!
He's also a gifted tech; waiting for the interview to start, he repaired the secretary's vid-phone as well as the guard's watch. Since the interview, he has shown equal brilliance on large and small scale mechanics and electronics. I imagine with a few more years under his belt, he could be one of the finest mekton designers that Algol has produced.
His only problem lies in personal communication. Quiet and shy, he is a classic introvert (odd trait for an Ettaran), who relates to machines better than people; he'd rather fix a can opener than talk to a stranger.
Family History
Eiran's mother and older sister were killed when he was a child, and since then his father has remarried. Both parents love Eiran, and he gets along well with both of them.
He has one living older sister (20) and three younger brothers (13, 10, 8).
Friends & Enemies
Eiran has two friends from his childhood:
- Jalak (Surrogate older brother, Ettaran male, 20)
- Taliran (Best friend, Ettaran male, 16)
No enemies.
Romantic Life
Much to his frustration, Eiran doesn't have one. His shyness has prevented any number of possible dalliances with numerous young Ettaran girls (who simply waited in vain for him to make a move).
Personality
Eiran is painfully shy, a nearly crippling personality trait for an Ettaran. He has trouble communicating with people he doesn't know and breaks out in cold sweat when confined with a group of strangers. It's even worse when a pretty girl is involved. He stammers and only makes a fool of himself. So he prefers to spend his time with machines; he's simply more comfortable around them. He joined the UAA to get into a situation of military sterility. He assumed that they would put him in some remote facility, testing machines, where he could work in peace and quiet. Instead they've assigned him to one of the most visible posts on the entire planet, and have placed him in a spaceship full of strangers. half of which are pretty women!
Personal Equipment
2 Ettaran work overalls (2 pip physical, 2 pip energy defense), 2 sets of civilian clothing, Advanced Toolkit (harness-rig that contains all sorts of high quality tools and scanners for repair and maintenence; +1D6 to all repair or modification rolls), 320₢

Laian
Pers.Doc.Lai.Lt2.004
I received the news of a Murian member of the squadron with a great deal of relief. At least the arrogant bastards are helping to protect the new world they created. Compared to the other Murian delegates, Laian is surprisingly normal; no airs of superiority, or insistence that her position be placed above the others. In fact, she requested that her rank be reduced. She felt that it was unfair that she be rewarded because of her birthplace. I hope that more Murians are like her.
Her piloting skills are passable, but she is going to need practice. Her psionic abilities are remarkable, and may make some other members uncomfortable. But her outgoing and friendly personality should soon allay any fears.
All in all, I like the girl. As far as her skills go, no one outside of Muria is competent to judge her strongest suit. I am sure that she will pull her weight with the rest of the team.
- -Hav.Vom.Rim 2-20
Family History
Laian never knew her parents. She was raised in one of the "schools" for the psionically gifted in Muria. These schools are the only family and home known to many children until they reach the age of maturity, when they graduate and enter mainstream Murian life.
Friends & Enemies
- Friends
- Javal Maora (Murian male, 19)
- Javal was the only person who supported Laian in her bid to join the UAA. All her other peers thought that Muria should send someone else. The two have been friends since their days together in school.
- Enemies
- Majall (Murian male, 23)
- At one time Laian's lover, Majall is a control freak. He must always be in charge, and must have his way. He had a near-hypnotic hold over Laian, and she was easily cowed by him.
Romantic Life
Laian is currently getting over the nasty and abusive relationship with Majall and is very wary of getting involved with anyone else.
Personality
Quiet and serene, Laian is the stereotypical Murian. She seems to see life differently than everyone else, with a great deal more philosophy. Very shy, she doesn't do much talking. She seems like a passive person on the surface, but underneath, her will is iron. The only thing that seems to shake her is Majall, and his influence fades the further she gets from him.
She is fascinated by Algolian culture (Muria was as isolated from the outside as it was for them), and is undergoing a bit of culture shock. Used to a strictly controlled society, she is amazed at the freedoms and "decadence" that Algol has to offer.
Personal Equipment
1 dress Murian Uniform, 4 sets of civil clothes, a favorite plush toy, 80₢

Tharis Tremaine
Pers.Doc.Tha.Ens.733
I think Tharis' test scores by themselves would earn him a spot on our team. Vever mind all of the other benefits he brings. A perfect 50 on the shooting range with a beam rifle is truly impressive. In addition to skills with mecha-based weaponry, his deadly aim seems to be present in any weapon he handles, from pistol to Aussault Rifle. A 3-year veteran of the Archipelago war, Tharis brings practical combat experience along with his skills.
In person, he is friendly and surprisingly polite. I wasn't surprised to hear that he was the son of an Elaran Duke, his manners and bearing certainly indicate it. I am surprised that a man of his station is still single. I understand that he joined the military against his father's wishes. If this is true, we might have to pull some sort of political maneuvering to process his application.
- -Hav.Com.Rim 2-20
Family History
Tharis' parents, the Duke and Duchess Tremaine, are alive and living in Arcol. Tharis has one sister (17), who still lives at home, and much to her parents grief she idolizes her older brother.
Tharis always had an adventutous spirit, and at the age of 18, he enlisted in the EMF, against his father's wishes. He loves his parents, but he can't stand the idea of sitting around a mansion all day.
Friends & Enemies
- Friends
- Tharis has left behind the life of nobility, and all the "friends" that came with it. He has since gone on to earn the respect and friendship of just about averybody he has served with, but he has formed no "deep" friendships.
- Enemies
- As a high ranking member of Elaran nobility, Tharis is a great target for kidnapping and terrorist plots. He is more than able to defend himself, and any such attempt is likely to backfire.
Romantic Life
Tharis is looking for a woman to love. The last person he was involved with (Emilia Darka) had left him without even saying goodbye. He just wants someone who cares for him, not his family's position or money.
Personality
Tharis has a spirit for adventure. If there's something that can't be done, he'll find a way to do it. If there is some adventure too dangerous to do, he'll give it a shot. There is nozjing in the world that seems too frighten him, and he's always first in line in a dangerous situation. He counts on his skill with a gun and his luck to carry him through the hard times. A true hero, he will put the life of an innocent before his own.
Personal Equipment
1 set of Elaran dress uniform, 3 sets of standard Elaran combat uniform suit (1D6+1 physical, 1 pip energy defense), custom made automatic pistol (accuracy +2, range: 5/30/70, shots: 15, max-rof: 6, damage: 4D+1), 1400₢

Celine Attara
Pers.Doc.Cel.Ens.935
During the war, Celine would have been laughed out of boot camp. Flamboyant and over-individualistic, she is also the consummate flirt. How she manages to pack so much energy into so small a body is beyond me.
Her qualifications, however, are unquestioned. Her ability in figuring the complicated equations needed in orbital mechanics is nearly supernatural, and although she has faults, the positives far outweigh the negatives.
But with a mixed gender crew confined close together for a long period of time, I'm not sure Celine was the wisest choice. Her record lists over 10 "intimate relations" in the course of 15 months. It's possible that her flirtatious nature is only a front, and that in a military situation she will show more restraint than is her "normal" behaviour. Or, she may pick a single lover and "settle down". In either case, we do not need her causing tensions among the male squadron members.
Somehow, I doubt we'll be so lucky.
- -Hav.Com.Rim 2-20
Family History
Both of Celine's parents are alive and well. They live in Andor, with their large family. Celine has four younger brothers (17, 15x2 [twins], and 4) and two younger sisters (10, 8). The family has always been close, and everybody gets along. Celine is especially loved by her two little sisters, who worship the ground she walks on.
Friends & Enemies
- Friends
- Terrin Fellai (ex-lover, Elaran male, 18)
- Terrin was in the same graduating class as Celine. Their affair ended when he was assigned to an outpost in Keor.
- Mina Dari (best friend, Elaran female, 17)
- Mina and Celine were the terrible twosome in high school. They were inseperable. Mina has since married and moved to Kandar.
- Enemies
- Celine has left a fair number of broken hearts behind her. Almost all of her boyfriends have parted with her on good terms, but one never knows.
Romantic Life
Celine is currently unattached, and has remained so since splitting up with Terrin nearly a year ago. This is a personal record, and one she doesn't want to see go on any longer.
Personality
At first glance Celine seems to be quite silly and fluffheaded. The term "boy-crazy" seems to have been invented for the flirtatious and slightly sultry Celine. While very interested in romance and having "fun", Celine doesn't take life very seriously.
Personal Equipment
1 Elaran dress uniform, 4 sets of Elaran standard uniform combat suits (1D6+1 physical, 1 pip energy defense), 10 sets of civilian clothes for all occasions, stadard datapad with specialized astronimical software and a large database of the planets and the stars visible from Algol, EDF 9mm Automatic (accuracy +1, range: 5/25/50, shots: 12, max-rof: 4, damage: 3D+2), 320₢

Daric Tallus
Pers.Doc.Dar.Ens.432
Daric is an unusual addition to the team, as his area of expertise falls on a personal level. He is one of the nest young hand-to-hand combatants in Karga. Trained by his father, the legendary Duncan Tallus, he has grown up using hands, knives and swords all his life. While the Fireflight squadron is mekton-based, it is foolish to believe that they will be in their suits 24 hours a day. Hopefully, he will teach the others some of his skills, and in return he will learn from them. The squad needs someone like Daric, and I feel that he's the perfect choice.
On the surface he may appear distant and moody, but he seems to value friendship above all, and I think he will fit in well with the rest of the squadron. He has a quick temper, but I don't foresee any problems with him in the future. He is a good soldier.
- -Hav.Com.Rim 2-20
Family History
Daric's mother died years ago, in a fan car accident. His father, Duncan Tallus, has just retired from the KAAVAAK and is looking to set up a private martial arts school. Father and son haven't seen each other in over a year, but they get along well with one another. Daric is an only child.
Friends & Enemies
- Friends
Daric is a loner. He never makes more than a superficial friendship with anyone. So hid list of close friends is short. In fact, none.
- Enemies
Daric has learned one lesson from the Kargan Empire: An enemy left alive is potential suicide. His list of enemies is even shorter than his list of friends.
Romantic Life
As mentioned above, Daric is a loner, who "doesn't have timne" for romance. The extent of his romantic contacts have been one-night stands and "meaningless" flings.
Personality
Daric is a scary person to be around if you don't know him. He seems to vibrate with barely-controlled energy and restrained violence. He is never without a blade somewhere on his body, and is an expert with all forms of personal combat.
Having few hobbies, he spends all of his free time working out and practicing, hoping to one day be as good as his father is.
Personal Equipment
Sleave Sword* (diff: very easy, damage: STR+1D6+1 - max: 5D6), high quality fencing sword (accuracy: +1 / difficulty: Easy / damage: STR+2D (max. 4D+1)), 1 Kargan dress uniform, 2 sets standard Kargan combat uniform suits (1D6+1 physical, 1 pip energy defense), 2 sets of high qualitytraining clothes (1 for fencing, one for unarmed combat), 400₢
- The Sleave Sword was invented by Duncan Tallus as a close-in weapon of last resort. The KAAVAAK turned it down as too "obvious". The prototype was given to Daric as a birthday gift when he turned 18. The outer casing is made of impact resistant polymer plastics, capable of parrying any hand-held melee weapon (can use Brawling Parry vs. Melee weapons without penalty). The blade itself is also made of a special steel-like polymer and can retract into the casing (+3D6 to hide the weapon).

Karin Myiian
Pers.Doc.Kar.Ens.334
A highly rated reconnaissance pilot, Karin is one of the best at what she does. Her exploits against the Sharifin rebels (no matter our personal feelings on the matter) is exemplary.
Her loyalty and ability are unquestioined, but I do have one nagging doubt. A woman of her skills would have gone far on the front lines during the war. So why was she stationed so far from the action? The Kargan delegates say that she was simply more useful where she was. That explanation will have to do for now.
Her personality leaves a bit to be desired. Her military bearing never seems to relax; it's her way of life. There might be some friction between Karin and a few of the more "freewheeling" members of the squadron, but I imagine that each can learn something from the other. She seems to respect discipline and skill above all, so I don't think that she will have any problems serving with Elarans.
- -Hav.Com.Rim 2-20
Family History
Karin's mother and father were killed by an Axis bomb ten years ago. Her brother was also killed in the attack. Her younger sister, Kara (15), is the only family that she has left.
Friends & Enemies
- Friends
- Arika Tlama (Kargan female, 45)
- Arika was a Myiian family servant. After Karin's mother and father died, she took over running the household until Karin came of age. She is now raising Kara like her own daughter.
- Jassa Harvak (Kargan male, 30)
- Jassa is a spy for the KAAVAAK, and an expert at infiltration. Jessa has helped Karin track down and kill the assassins that killed her parents.
- Enemies
- The Axis (Group)
- Karin has crossed paths with the Axis on several occasions after her parents death, and the Axis has a long memory. They have tried to kill her twice, but it seems that revenge against her is low on their list of priorities.
Romantic Life
Karin has had a few lovers in her past, but nothing serious. Her big "secret" affair was with a member of the Freelancers Guild a few years back. "Falcon" was spying on the Kargan court at the time, and the two became lovers. She exposed him after a month, but he got away, leaving her a red rose to remember him by.
Personality
Cold and calculating, Karin is all business. Not unfriendly or cruel, she just believes that military conduct and protocol should always be followed to the letter. She does everything "by the book" and has little tolerance for show-offs or hot shots.
Personal Equipment
1 Kargan dress uniform, 2 sets of standard Kargan combat uniform suit (1D6+1 physical, 1 pip energy defense), 3 sets of civilian clothes, 240₢

Aleoi Hiarri
Pers.Doc.Ale.Ens.523
At 17, Aleoi is the second youngest recruit to be chosen for this group (it is odd that the two youngest recruits are both Ettaran). There were other, older applicants, but when it came down to it, Aleoi was simply (overall) the best qualified for the position. Her ability to understand and use computers is, in my opinion, amazing. I have yet to see the system that she could not crack, or the computer that could withhold any secrets from her. If we can get her hooked into the Axis mainframe, we'll have them.
I understand that her frivolous personality belies her skill, but believe me, the skills are there. In all possible tests nad simulations she has had top marks, both as a pilot as well as programmer. Simply put we cannot afford to lose her.
Face to face, she seems to be a typical Ettaran teenager, interested in the latest rock music and the lastest film heartthrob. Having recently met the young lady in person, I can say this: Her smile lights up a room better than a hundred halogen lamps.
- -Hav.Com.Rim 2-20
Family History
Both parents are alive and well, living in the Archipelago. They supported her entry into Overwatch, and Aleoi gets along well with both of them. She has two older brothers (26 and 22) and one younger sister (10). Aleoi gets along well with all of her siblings. Her little sister thinks she's the coolest thing in the world.
Friends & Enemies
- 3 childhood Ettaran friends
- Maieoi (best friend, female Ettaran, 17)
- Janai (mentor, female Ettaran computer programmer, 30)
- Daman (ex boyfriend, Ettaran male, 18)
- no enemies
Romantic life
Currently uninvolved, and is waiting for "Mr. Right" (and Tharis sure looks like he could fit the bill).
Personality
Friendly and outgoing, Aleoi values love and romance above all other things. She's an incurable romantic who has a secret stash of romance novels.
Personal Equipment
Interface Keyboard1), 3 sets of Ettaran Mecha-Interface Suit2) (2 pip physical, 1 pip energy defense), 4 sets of civilian clothes for different occasions, hidden stash of romance novels (like "The Whisper of my Heart", "Dangerous Liasons", "A Knight's Tale", or "My Secret Place"), 320₢
- Interface Keyboard
- This small device looks like a standard computer keyboard, with a few special modifications. It is capable of interfacing with any Algolian computer system.
- It takes a Very Difficult (25+) Computer programming/repair roll to properly set up. Once established, the user has a direct link into the system that she has plugged into. A small display at the top of the keyboard acts as a monitor, but there is also a headgear that covers the eyes and acts as a full view monitor.
- By itsef, the unit is capable of functioning as a seperate computer and data storage device. It can also be hooked into a mekton's computer system to perform "diagnostic" duties on any computer controlled system.
- Cost: 2000₢
- Mecha-Interface Suit
- A light armor suit (2 pip physical, 1 pip energy defense) that is optimized for interfacing with a mecha by plugging into the mecha system directly and programmed to let the user feel his mecha. This adds +1 pip to all Mecha related actions. These suits need to be custom fitted costing 500₢ for Ettaran characters, and 700₢ for other nations. Currently these suits are only available in Ettara.
